What type of vehicles can be converted?

We can help convert utes, classics, vintage, light trucks, motorbikes, sedans, sports cars, coupes & convertibles, even a boat. If it's your electric dream machine, we'll help make it happen. Usually vehicles made before 2000 can be converted to 100% electric with little fuss. Newer cars can be converted but have more safety features and modern CANBUS communication that needs to remain OEM and pass all safety standards.

Why choose Electric Dream Machine to convert my car?

We are a team of passionate Electric Vehicle (EV) enthusiasts, mechanics, designers, and engineers with over 10 years of experience building custom DIY electric cars. We have been actively involved in the EV community in the Geelong and Surf Coast region of Victoria, Australia for many years. Let us use our knowledge and skills to help turn your EV vision into a reality.

I only want to buy EV parts from you, can I do that?

Yes, we supply kits and are in the process of building new kits. Please email us to discuss or visit our store.

How long does it take to convert my car to electric?

It varies from project to project, but we aim to convert your vehicle within 3-6 months, after initial consultations and EDM project agreement commencement. Things that can hold up projects include waiting for EV parts, shipping, VASS engineering approval and changes to the project scope by the client.

How much does it cost to convert my car to electric?

Electric vehicles converted through Electric Dream Machine start around $60k AUD. This price can vary greatly, depending on motor, battery and electrical component choice. Where we can, we use recycled quality OEM EV components from Tesla, Nissan, etc. We don't restore or paint vehicles. Should you wish to discuss your project requirements, please call or email us.

Do you restore vehicles?

No, we don't restore or paint vehicles. Our knowledge and skill is helping you convert your car to 100% electric. Through a series of meetings and consulting, our team will then supply a budget total and time frames. If you choose to proceed, we then order parts, remove your vehicle’s internal combustion engine (ICE) and build custom battery boxes to fit your vehicle / We then engineer the custom adaptor plate, engine mounts and other components. We work closely with our engineer to ensure it's all VASS approved and add safety systems on the high voltage (HV) side and 12V side along with custom gauges and charging system.
